Born in 1961, I was encouraged at school to follow my creativity, often designing and completing backdrops for school drama productions. I continued to follow this path whilst starting to visit exhibitions in London alongside visits to Museums such as the V & A and the ICA and the National Portrait gallery, and after moving from Devon, studied Art in Loughton and Nottingham.
Fast forward to the 1990's when I revisited my Art studies in Solihull and Birmingham. I enjoyed the opportunities now possible for mature students and the encouragement afforded by colleges and universities, studying Psychology alongside Fine Art, achieving BA (Sculpture) in 2006 and then later MA (Fine Art) in 2016, which I did in the stunning surroundings of the Margaret Street school of Art. During the BA I was lucky to be instructed in approaches to sculpture and this has been part of my practice ever since, latterly moving into Installation, I had my work 'Drowning not waving' (which you can see on my INSTALLATION page) chosen as a finalist in the Global art awards, which took place in Dubai and was a fantastic opportunity to meet artists from around the globe.
I lived in Solihull for 25 years with my husband Steve and our two children, Grace and James. I now live in Seaton in East Devon and look forward to creating a new studio space there and am actively looking for new ways to show my work.
